Beloved Kinney,
This past Sunday, we not only sang the song, “I Will Wait for You,” but we sang it very
well! I think there’s a reason for that.
This song speaks to one of the primary dispositions of the Christian life: waiting. We are
a people who wait on the Lord. We wait on his promises to be fully and finally fulfilled.
We wait on him to provide wisdom to make difficult decisions. We wait on him to work in
the hearts of those we love. We wait on him to lift the suffering. We wait on him…
The song “I Will Wait for You” is based on Psalm 130. Take a moment to read it:

The song “I Will Wait for You” is based on Psalm 130. Take a moment to read it:
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
What are you waiting for? What do you long to see the Lord bring to pass? What do you wish he would remove from you or give to you? While you wait, strive to let the emphasis of your heart be the emphasis of this Psalm. What’s the emphasis of this Psalm? Grace, forgiveness, redemption.
Isn’t it interesting that, while the Psalmist waits on the Lord to answer his prayer, he focuses on the grace of God. “…with you there is forgiveness…with the LORD there is steadfast love…and plentiful redemption…And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”
Oh Kinney, wait on the Lord! And while you do, focus on the redemption that is yours in Christ. It will strengthen you in the waiting.
Love,
Pastor Josh

This is reassuring and comforting! One of the ways I battle impatience is to find promises from God's word wich renew my hope in God. The psalm says "I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;"
nThank you Pastor Josh!
